I’ve been tutoring A-Level Computer Science for six years, alongside working as a software developer. Programming is usually where students need the most support, so we spend plenty of time actually writing and tracing code rather than just reading about it. I’m particularly keen on algorithms and data structures. Closer to exams, I use past papers to work on the precise wording needed for longer theory questions.

Hi! I’m a Computer Science graduate who started tutoring while I was still at university and carried on because I genuinely enjoyed it. I teach A-Level Computer Science, with a lot of my sessions centred around Python, pseudocode and those awkward algorithm questions that can take a while to click. I also like teaching binary and logic gates. I keep lessons fairly relaxed and usually get students coding as soon as possible.

Before moving into teaching, I spent eight years working in software engineering, mainly with Java and Python. I now tutor A-Level Computer Science and bring quite a few examples from industry into lessons when they help explain the theory. My specialist areas are programming, databases and computational thinking. I’m also very particular about exam terminology, since a technically correct idea can still lose marks if it is expressed too vaguely.
